“Please forgive us” – US pleads with muslim nations

Even with tears over the killing of the U.S ambassador to Libya, Christopher Stevens and 3 others, the United States of America has apologized to the whole world, particularly to Countries ruled by Muslims over the anti-Islamic film released by an American video film, which assaulted Prophet Mohammed.
Already, the crisis has spread to Yemen and some few Muslim ruling nations, including Nigeria. Muslims in the City of Jos have been protesting over the anti-Islam film released online. They have embarked on burning American flags even as soldiers are working towards putting them off the streets.
Speaking through its Secretary of State, Hillary Clinton, Obama had described the video as repulsive and disgraceful, adding that the purpose was to condemn religion and to provoke violence.
Clinton, who spoke while attending a meeting in Washington D.C. with Morocco’s Foreign Affairs Minister yesterday, pleaded with all Islamic nations to pardon the Americans for such blunder.
According to her “We are closely watching what is happening in Yemen and elsewhere, and we certainly hope and expect that there will be steps taken to avoid violence and prevent the escalation of protests into violence.
“I also want to take a moment to address the video circulating on the internet that has led to these protests in a number of countries.  Let me state very clearly – and I hope it is obvious – that the United States Government had absolutely nothing to do with this video.  We absolutely reject its content and message.  America’s commitment to religious tolerance goes back to the very beginning of our nation.  And as you know, we are home to people of all religions, many of whom came to this country seeking the right to exercise their own religion, including, of course, millions of Muslims.  And we have the greatest respect for people of faith.
“To us, to me personally, this video is disgusting and reprehensible.  It appears to have a deeply cynical purpose:  to denigrate a great religion and to provoke rage.  But as I said yesterday, there is no justification, none at all, for responding to this video with violence.  We condemn the violence that has resulted in the strongest terms, and we greatly appreciate that many Muslims in the United States and around the world have spoken out on this issue.
“Violence, we believe, has no place in religion and is no way to honor religion.  Islam, like other religions, respects the fundamental dignity of human beings, and it is a violation of that fundamental dignity to wage attacks on innocents.  As long as there are those who are willing to shed blood and take innocent life in the name of religion, the name of God, the world will never know a true and lasting peace.  It is especially wrong for violence to be directed against diplomatic missions.  These are places whose very purpose is peaceful:  to promote better understanding across countries and cultures.  All governments have a responsibility to protect those spaces and people, because to attack an embassy is to attack the idea that we can work together to build understanding and a better future.
“Now, I know it is hard for some people to understand why the United States cannot or does not just prevent these kinds of reprehensible videos from ever seeing the light of day. Now, I would note that in today’s world with today’s technologies, that is impossible. However, even if it were possible, our country does have a long tradition of free expression, which is enshrined in our Constitution and our law, and we do not stop individual citizens from expressing their views no matter how distasteful they may be.

Chris Brown's Album Given 'This Man Beats Women' Warning Sticker

Photo credit: Anthony Dixon/WENN Chris Brown's domestic abuse case, which dated back to 2009, once again plagues his music career. In HMV stores in London, copies of his latest album "Fortune" are marked with yellow stickers which give warning, "WARNING. DO NOT BUY THIS ALBUM! THIS MAN BEATS WOMEN."

Gigwise, which obtains a photo of the labeled CDs, says that it could be the work of anti-domestic violence campaigners. To E! News, a spokesman for the store states, "It was very much an isolated incident and nothing to do with HMV or representing our view."

"It would appear a member of the public popped into one of our stores yesterday and stickered a handful of CDs," the rep adds. "These were spotted and quickly removed, but, before we could act, the individual concerned must have taken a photo and sent it to the media. To our knowledge there are no further stickers in our stores now."

Meanwhile, Breezy's camp has not commented on the incident that will surely remind people of his violent past involving Rihanna. The "Don't Judge Me" singer himself recently drew criticisms with a new tattoo on his neck, which features a battered woman. People linked the image to his former girlfriend, but his rep quickly debunked it as claiming it "is not Rihanna".

Boko Haram: Residents panic as Hausa beggars take over Owerri

Residents of Owerri, the Imo State capital, are now panicking over the increase in numbers of beggars entering the town from the northern region.
They are also condemning the attitude of the beggars whom they claimed flock around churches, motorparks and other public places.
It was gathered that the upsurge in the number of street beggars in Owerri and other cities in the Southeast might not be unconnected with the activities of the Boko Haram sect, which have forced the beggars to relocate.
The beggars who are mainly between the ages of six to fourteen years are also accompanied by their mothers who hang around while the minors hustle for alms.
A school teacher in Owerri, Mr Simon Nwachukwu who spoke with “Daily Post”, lamented the harassment suffered by residents and visitors in the hands of the beggars.
The teacher who described the activities of the beggars as a social nuisance, said they are now becoming security threat to the state.
Another resident, who pleaded anonymity, noted that even though it is good to give to the needy, alms begging should not be encouraged, stating that the boldness with which the beggars pounce on passersby is becoming worrisome.
He said that although Owerri, just like every other city has sizable number of beggars, he warned that the sudden upsurge in the number of beggars calls for concern.
“Given the security situation in the country, it is not out of place to raise alarm over the influx of Hausa into Owerri, we want the security agents to take note of this and safegaurd the lives and property of Owerri residents,” he stated.
Meanwhile, the Imo state Police Command, through its Public Relations Officer, Mr. Vitalis Onugu, has assured that the beggars would not constitute any security threat.

For not been able to control his sexual urges, Emmanuel Isong, a security guard in Akute, Ogun State allegedly descended on an imbecile mother of two identified as Seun and raped her mercilessly.
Emmanuel, who pleaded that the act was the handiwork of the devil, said he has a girlfriend, but didn’t know what came over him when he decided to rape the imbecile.
“I didn’t know what came over me. Even my girlfriend would be disappointed to hear this. It is the handiwork of devil and I swear it won’t happen again,” the Akwa Ibom State-born security guard confessed.

Price of Bread Set to be Increased, Again

Following the increase in the price of flour and other products by the government, in a move to encourage the use of cassava, the Lagos State chairman of the Association of Master Bakers and Confectioneries, Mr. Jacob Adejorin has confirmed that price of bread would be increased as from September 1, following the increment of price of flour and other ingredients.
According to Mr Adejorin, “Members of our association has no option but to increase the price of breadbecause of the N1, 000 additions on the price of flour but consumers can be assure of more quality products as we will on 28 of this month hold a seminar to further standardise our products”
Pointing out that the Standard Organisation of Nigeria would oversee the seminar, Adejorin further added that the master bakers would not work on 31st of August as they would be going on sensitisation exercise across the state (Lagos). Meanwhile, he has criticized the move by the government, basing his criticism on the fact that government has not put adequate machinery in place to ensure the success of the innovation, which in itself he said he has nothing against.
In his words, “Currently, the machinery available is meant for wheat based bread, we will be ready to support the government in the crusade if the new initiative can come with machinery for cassava flour that can be demonstrated and found effective.”
